Why hello there you lavly lot! Sorry for being a lil MIA lately but if you've been keeping track over on my Instagram & Twitter you will know that I've just returned from a delightful 5 days in beautiful Greece with DiscoverGreece and Blog Trotters and ohhh what fun it was.
45 travel, fashion and lifestyle bloggers from around the world descended on Greece for 5 days of exploring the beautiful city of Thessaloniki.
We were visiting to experience the youthful vibe of Thessaloniki and explore the seriously charming Greek port city.
Thessaloniki is the second biggest city in the whole of Greece, a city with serious charm, history and a heck load of fun.
And what a youth culture Thessaloniki had.
Thessaloniki was recently voted the youth capital of Europe 2015 due to it's 120,000 young people living in Thessaloniki and thanks to the five universities of which the city holds, so it certainly did not disappoint.
I can honestly say that I completely fell in love with the city; the centre of Thessaloniki, with street after street of restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops and bars. The mix of seriously cute and typically European architecture combined with super colourful street art completely showcased the new lease of life that the city had been given.
By day the city was a calm and tranquil place which completely transformed as soon as darkness hit.
Our first day in Thessaloniki was spent getting to know one another whilst we learnt all about the history and youth scene of the city, and of course lapping up some serious sunshine at the beautifully tranquil port.
With the calmest and bluest of waters it was hard not to fall in love with the city, the sun was a shining, the cocktails a flowing and the conversation like non I have had before.
45 like-minded and wander-lusting young people all gathered together, sharing stories of their travels, photographs of the beautiful Thessaloniki city and all bubbling with excitement for the impending days of exploring, it was a magical first morning in Greece.
For our first evening in Thessaloniki, we headed to the White Tower, a beautiful brick monument and museum situated on the waterfront.

What was once a prison back in 1430 is now an informative museum showcasing the cities history, an exhibition dedicated to the city of Thessaloniki and it's development over time.
Following the winding staircase up to the top of the tower, we learnt tonnes about the city we were visiting, with each floor highlighting a different period/topic in Thessaloniki history, but what I was really looking forward to was the view from the top.
As you can see from the 1st & 6th image above, the views were marvelous and truly showed off Thessaloniki to it's fullest. The colours, the buildings, the water and the hustle and bustle of the city were enough to make me want to stay forever.
We then finished our evening with a typical Greek feast at the Palati restaurant, sharing platter after platter of delicious food.
Greek salads, Tzaiki & bread, smoked aubergine, stews and Souvlaki it was the perfect way to end an awesome day.
The group bonded over great food and great memories of our first day in a charming Greek square with the most beautifully lit fountain and super cute street performances.
Day 1 done, and oh what a day it was. But trust me, it gets better, so make sure you stay tuned for my next Thessaloniki post coming up later this week.
